2. What is therapy?
Therapy is the process of bringing healing to our emotional, relational, and spiritual wounds. Often, because of our brokenness, we are unable to find our own way out of difficult situations or deep emotional pain. Therapists are trained to help guide us from our broken places into right relationships with God, others, and ourselves. [return to top]
3. Isn't God enough?
God made us and God mends us. He does this in many different ways. Sometimes He uses medical doctors to help facilitate healing in our physical bodies. Sometimes He uses trained Christian counselors to help facilitate healing in our emotional selves and in our relationships. In 2 Cor 1, Paul talks about God bringing people into our lives to walk with us through the dark times. Gifted Christian counselors can be those people. [return to top]
4. How long does it take?
Only God really knows. However, like in the medical field, healing from simple trauma happens more quickly than healing from severe or chronic trauma. Some issues are resolved in a very few sessions; others may take months or even years to be fully healed. [return to top]
5. How much does it cost?
Therapy sessions generally cost between $30 and $65 per hour depending on the level of training for the therapist and the family income of the client. [return to top]

The counseling center is located on the northeast corner of the church property. It is in the "Yellow house" which is now actually beige. The house was built in the late 1800's and affords a comfortable atmosphere for our clients. [return to top]
8. What training do the therapists have?
All therapists at the GHCC counseling center are either licensed or in the process of being licensed with the state of California. There are three main categories for therapists: trainees, interns, and licensed therapists. Trainees are in the process of their graduate education in which they are required to obtain several hundred client hours before graduation. Interns have graduated from their program and are working towards licensure. The state of California requires 3000 client and training hours in addition to the successful completion of examinations given by the state for licensure. It typically takes an intern between two and six years to complete this. [return to top]
